
The US secretary of state has warned Syria and Iran of taking actions that threaten the security of Israel, saying that Washington’s commitment to its traditional ally is “unshakeable”.
Hillary Clinton said that the transfer of sophisticated weaponry to Lebanon’s Hezbollah and the Palestinian Hamas movement by Syria, as well as Iran’s nuclear ambitions, could destabilise the region.

The only man to have admitted his role in the killing of controversial US black leader Malcolm X has been released from prison on parole.
Thomas Hagan, 69, was released from a New York jail 45 years after the assassination, officials confirmed.
Hagan said he was one of three men who shot Malcolm X as he began a speech at Harlem’s Audubon Ballroom in 1965.

(Reuters) – The Belgian lower house of parliament on Thursday approved a bill to ban wearing the full Islamic face veil in public, a move that could make Belgium the first European country to make the practice a criminal offence.

Palestinian officials have passed a new law outlawing the sale of goods made in Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank.
The law, under which offenders could face up to five years in jail or a fine of up to $14,000, was signed by Mahmoud Abbas, the Palestinian president, on Monday.

Crazy as it sounds, that’s apparently the belief of a private company authorized by the state of Maryland to place foster children.
