The Center for Peace

    

The Center for Peace is a non profit, volunteer, outreach arm of the Islamic Society of Central Florida that works to dispel stereotypes and misconceptions about Islam and Muslims.

With the mission in mind that builds tolerance and understading, the Center for Peace continues to bond people for unity and peace.

The objective of the Center is to facilitate and coordinate outreach efforts in the Central Forida community by promoting understanding and acceptance among people of all faith and all background about Islam.

Outreach Program There are several regular “outreach” programs that you can be part of. But first you have the C4P meeting and participate in a few of our standard workshops.

Meetings are held every 2nd Sunday and 4th Sunday at
11 am. Beware that our meeting do start on time.

Workshops are held every are held on the third Sunday of every month. Standard workshops aim at training members to present Islam in an inviting and welcoming manner. Specialty workshops focus on nurturing a more in depth understanding about Islam

You can also get involved in some of our regular programs.

Prison Outreach - Volunteers go through specialized training in-order to help the inmate population with their spiritual needs.

Invitational Project: Community members are invited to learn about Islam and Muslims in an informal and welcoming atmosphere. Video and power point presentation with cultural dinner included.

Adopt-a-Highway : Volunteers clean-up a section of an adopted road to help beautify the community.

The Centers efforts include:

  • Sponsoring educational and inspirational lectures
  • Inviting leaders of all faiths to conduct seminars and workshops
  • Providing educational seminars and materials to schools
  • Educational Film Series against prejudice and stereotyping
  • Providing visits to schools, churches, community leaders, etc.
  • Visits to the Center for Peace to learn about Muslims
  • Building relations with people of other faith neighbors
  • Educating law enforcement officers on diversity issues
  • Uniting diverse communities through learning seminars and workshops
  • Emphasizing minority issues
  • Celebrating different minorities-African American Heritage, etc.
